Since 1995, Just Food has empowered and supported community-led efforts to increase access to locally grown food, especially in under-served NYC neighborhoods. Just Food provides training and education to community members to help them launch projects like farmers’ markets and CSAs, provide education in basic culinary and urban agriculture skills for their neighbors, and advocate to make their corner of New York City a healthier place to live and eat.

Just Food’s Youth Community Chefs are working to create change in their neighborhoods. These inspiring young people are participating in urban farming and gardening initiatives and then sharing their knowledge of and passion for good food with their neighbors. By growing food, helping make it available through community-run farmers markets, and teaching their neighbors how to prepare it, Youth Community Chefs are sowing seeds of health in their communities.
